Did you know that crochet stitches have different names throughout different parts of the world? Not sure why, but here we are! When I first learned to crochet, I would have to google ‘crochet stitch conversion chart’ whenever I was reading a crochet pattern from someone outside the US. So I thought it would be super useful to have a chart at my fingertips to easily convert the terms/stitches.
It’s pretty much the US vs most other countries, so for purposes of the chart, we classify the stitches under ‘US’ and ‘UK’.
Pro tip – then take a screenshot of the crochet stitch conversion chart and mark it as a ‘favorite’ on your phone. That way, it’s easy to pull up when you come across a pattern that requires stitch conversions.
Also, be sure to pin to your Pinterest boards. This will help other crocheters because they are more likely to see the pin and save it for themselves 🙂 Our (not so) little crochet community is so awesome – there are so many tips and resources out there for free and I’m happy to help out!
BONUS: Did you know that the terms for yarn weight and crochet hooks vary as well? Don’t fret, we have you covered! We also have a FREE Crochet Hook size conversion chart and Yarn Weight Conversion Chart. Hopefully these tips help as well 🙂
