Am I the only one who does this? Anyone else pull up google or Pinterest every time you’re looking at a yarn from a different country? When looking at the ‘yarn weight’ on the labels, you’ll see numbers, categories, ply, and other terms, and it can get confusing!! Without a yarn weight conversion chart at your fingertips, it can be tricky! But now you’re here, and you’re in the right place!
Ta-da! I’ve put together one handy yarn weight conversion chart that links the US number and US category, ply (used in AUS and UK), and other terms commonly used (in the UK I believe).
One tip – take a screenshot of the chart and mark it as a ‘favorite’ in your phone. That way, when you’re shopping for yarn – either in a store or online – you can pull this up right away.
Also, be sure to pin to your Pinterest boards! This actually helps other crocheters too, because they are more likely to see the pin and save it for themselves. Our (not so) little crochet community is so awesome – there is so much out there for free and so much inspiration we can take from other crocheters!
BONUS: We also have a FREE Crochet Hook size conversion chart. Another tool to make your crochet supply shopping trip easier!
That translates the different numbers and letters used to categorize crochet hooks across the globe.
Maybe 1 day, there will be one standard used everywhere, but until then, we have these guides to help us out 🙂
