If you’ve logged into Etsy recently, you may have noticed new best practice suggestions for Etsy listing titles. Etsy recently pushed out updated guidance, and was kind enough to suggest new titles for your listings!
When I saw this, I realized a lot of sellers might be wondering:
- Do I have to change my Listing titles?
- What’s the easiest way to update it?
- Will this mess up my listing and its ranking?
So, instead of stressing about it, I decided to make the update – and document the process in case it helps someone else.
Although I was hesitant to update the listings, especially for my best sellers, I figured if Etsy themselves were making this suggestion, then it would likely improve its performance in the Etsy search results and SEO (Search Engine Optimization) rankings.
What changed?
To be clear, this update is only for the Etsy Listing TITLE.
I didn’t touch photos, pricing, or the rest of the description. This was meant to be a simple and easy update.
Why this matters for crochet sellers
Titles help Etsy understand what your listing is, and also help buyers quickly decide if your pattern is what they’re looking for.

I recorded a short YouTube video showing exactly how I updated the title, step by step, using Etsy’s suggestion.

Happy crocheting,
