Anyone else get confused with the different sets of numbers and letters used to categorize crochet hook sizes out there?! Whenever I am reading a pattern or looking to purchase a new crochet hook, unless it specifies the size in ‘mm’, I always have to pull up this conversion chart.
I imagine other crocheters have the same struggle, so I put this chart together in hopes that this will help other crocheters too.
Crochet hook size conversion chart
This should help you avoid any confusion regarding which crochet hook size to use.
Yahoo! Now we don’t have to google and double check the hook size terminology every time we read a pattern.
One tip for you
Take a screenshot of the chart and mark it as a ‘favorite’ in your phone. That way, when you’re shopping for your next crochet projects – either in a store or online – you can pull this up right away.
Also, be sure to pin to your Pinterest boards! This actually helps other crocheters too, because they are more likely to see the pin and save it for themselves. Our (not so) little crochet community is so awesome – there is so much out there for free and so much inspiration we can take from other crocheters!

Happy crocheting!
Found your site by googling YouTube. It has proved invaluable, especially for the US v European (mm) Crochet Hook Sizes. Have taken a Screenshot AND have written the conversion in a notebook.
Your explanations, too, as to how to do stitches with their US name are superb!
I first crocheted (the British way) over 50 years ago, BEFORE the age of Computers and Smartphones, and it’s like learning all over again.
Thank you for making it so easy to understand.
